Hi,

My first post, so please bear with me. :D

The above is pretty much what I have in terms of video usage, a TAG McLaren DVD32FLR with the optional PSM192 progressive output board, a 55'' Hitachi 55PD5200 plasma and am using its internal SD analog TV tuner.

So, considering the native 1368 x 768 Alis panel I have, and my idea of getting an Kiss VR-558 as an external tuner and recorder, what scaler of the Crystalio line up would be most suited?

I have no intention of going to a projector, and my setup is probably to be like this for the next 5-10 years, reliability permitting, and since HD-TV is pretty far away in this country, and I don't believe in a fast implementation of HD-DVD/Blu-ray, this is it.

The setup would be DVD feeding the unknown scaler via component (first question: interlaced output or deinterlaced?) or DVI (second question....), the SD Kiss tuner/player/recorder also feeding the player via component and the scalser going to the plasma.

Third question: what scaler would make the most sense in this setup?

Thanks in advance,

Luis

I believe the PE1000Pro second generation will do fine.
It is basically a Crystalio VPS2300 with tuner and HDMI 480i/576i input compatible.

DVD can be linked either in YUV, SDI, or HDMI/DVI. It is better to let the scaler do all the work so you must make your choice uppon interlaced link only (I am not sure you can get 480i/576i from the DVI output of the TAG).

Other electronics would be linked also in SD interlaced with the best connection you can choose except for HD that must be in HDMI 720P or 1080i.

Scaler must be set to match best resolution for your plasma, I guess it would be 1360x768 (1366x768 usually sync on 1360x768 external). Make sure your Plasma in HDCP compliant.

(nota 1366x768 is not ALis, Alis is 1024x1024)
