I have successfully modded the Denon 5900. I have included pictures. The instructions are in the pictures and should be self explanatory. Moderators, if you the want full 3 - 6 megapixel pictures just shoot me an email.

Nelson,

I want to populate my player with the second SDI output. I trust the BT656Pro kit supports the second output like the older kits.

What kind of Canare BNC connector is PMS using for this upgrade kit?

Does PMS sell this Canare connector?

Thanks.

Eric,
You are right, BT656 Pro supports 2 SDI output as our old version.
Please drop me an email at nelson@pixelmagicsystems.com so I can arrange the connector for you.

Cheers,

Where did you attach the clock ground?

Where did you attach the clock ground?

I didn't - if you look really closely to one of the pictures. You can kind of see that is wrapped around the other cables unterminiated.

The red light is on.

I am guessing that one of the wires are not making good contact. I had the noise problem when I modded my Denon 1600 even though the red light was on. A loose wire was the culprit. I would use a volt / amp meter to test the continuity from the board just outside the solder point to the wire / connection that attaches to the SDI board.

AAAhhhh :D I did the connections 2 times again, then I found out that I had to change a switch in my Holo3D2 setup for SDI.
Now it works perfect, and WAW what a upgrade . thank you for helping me

Reviving this thread after quite some time.
Eric, I'm about to try and mod my A-11 following the steps indicated by the pics in this post. Higher res pics would really help, if you still have them. I've PM-ed my e-mail to you.
Thanks in advance.

Also, a question on the behaviour of the A11/5900 afetr the mod when using sdi to an external scaler:

Do people who modded their player still observe macroblocking effects on some DVD-s ?

Cheers,
Dorian

Sorry folks, I didn't even know I had a PM function as I didn't get notification emails. I have PMs dating back over a year requesting the Hi-Rez photos.

Anyways, the hi rez photos are combined into 61 MB zip file. If anyone has an FTP site that I can upload this to please let me know and I am hoping you will share the site with others.

Thanks EC

Eric, if you e-mail them to me (I have no limits on the mailbox) I will arange to have them accessible via www/ftp download and post the url here for everybody to see. If you have problems with e-mail, I can try and set up a ftp account for you, but still, e-mail might work. My e-mail address is in the PM.

Please advise.
Thanks,
Dorian

P.S.
the question on macroblocking (a ubiquitous and persistent ESS Vibrato I feature) via SDI still stands.

I have the BT656Pro on order and plan to attempt the mod when it arrives. I would greatly appreciate any of the hi-rez pictures any one may have. please e-mail to glen@isfht.com.

Just finished my DVD-5900 SDI mod. Photos and info are great, mod went easily and worked great, no problems.

Definite improvement in picture.
