View Full Version : Considering Sweetspot

I'm currently using a regular BT848 card for tv-viewing and console-playing.

I wan't better image-quality for my consoles (PS2 and GameCube) - and I think Sweetspot will give me this (RGB).

The problem is that I still want to be able to watch TV.

Is the best solution to just keep the BT848 and add the Sweetspot beside it? Or is there a better tuner-solution available for Sweetspot?

The best thing would be a Sweetspot with integrated tuner - that way I could keep my PCI soundcard. I have to go onboard-sound now... Or do I?

Hi Chrono
If you don't have an external TV box then you will need to keep your tuner card.

It's easy with DScaler to switch between the two cards

I guess that most users of SweetSpot/PDI Deluxe will use an external SKY/Freeview/Satellite box and connect it via the RGB input of SweetSpot.

People who want the best quality internal picture quality usually use some kind of Digital Terrestrial card like Nebula DigiTV.

Obviously for Consoles, SweetSpot will give you the best quality possible into your PC.

I don't quite understand your audio question - could you clarify?

Alex

I have 2 PCI slots - One for the tuner and one for the soundcard. If I get a Sweetspot the soundcard will have to go, and I must use the onboard-soundchip instead.

There are no plans for a Sweetspot with integrated tuner?

Not that I'm aware of.

How were you thinking of using SweetSpot?
For other external sources?
If not I don't see how you were going to benefit from it.

If it is for external sources (games consoles/VCR/Laserdisc/Satellite/etc), one idea would be to buy a cheap USB tuner card to free up the PCI slot.
