Hi,
1.I am using PDI DELUXE card to watch TV and paly game consoles. The picture quality is outstanding. But I have a noise problem and this noise problem only happens when my Maxtor 120GB HD is transferring data. You can see on attached sanpshot.
2.I just got my ordered Xcard yesterday. So I tried the PDI for DVD playback. But the noise problem came out when Xmedia is running, and even worse than Maxtor 120GB's case. And I have the noise problem even without PDI connection from Xcard, looks like the noise came out when Xcard is running.
I tried to remove all PCI cards and change to another slot. even only PDI DELUXE or Xcard&PDI DELUXE left on PCI bus. The problem is still the same. If Maxtor 120GB HD or Xcard is not running, everything is fine and the picture quality is very solid.
I don't have this problem on my XCapture even Maxtor 120GB HD or Xcard is running, so I am thinking it could be something wrong with PDI DELUXE.

Hi,
It seems that your stuttering problem is related to the PCI bus data transfer. The PDI Deluxe card needs real-time data transfer from the card to motherboard through the PCI bus in order to transfer uncompressed video to DScaler for further processing. What is the chipset used on your motherboard? It was reported PCI bus architecture of some SiS based motherboards causes similar stuttering problem. If it is VIA chipset, please install the latest VIA 4in1 driver and try again.
Please try to install the PDI Deluxe card on another PCI slot and make sure that it does not share IRQ with other hardware in your system and try again.
Here is another thread related to stuttering problem.

Atman,
The chipset is nforce2. I will try PCI slot after work.
Thanks for the tips.
Best regards

Atman,
After I tried those PCI slots. I found the only way I can get it work is that I only can install Xcard and PDI DELUXE on PCI slots without other PCI cards. One more card then it got a little worse, two more cards then it's terrible. No matter what slots they are.
PDI DELUXE for my game console is working fine, if my Maxtor 120GB HD is not transferring data. And it's just a data drive, so it only transfers data when I am doing backup.
For DVD I might use zoomplayer+ffdshow. I just try Xcard+PDI DELUXE after I upgrade my system next time.
Thanks for the support
Andy

achentwn,
I am having very similar issues with my basic PDI card. I am using it only for DVDs. My noise appears very similar to yours, but mine only appears when I am running Judderterminator with autopulldown.
What deinterlacing mode are you using? Does using different methods have any effect on the noise? Is this noise pretty consistent, or is it random?

Strayshot,
I use MoComp2, but it happens even I use other deinterlaces. It's very consustent if my SATA maxtor 120GB HD is transfering data or PDI DULUXE&Xcard&M-audio 24/96 are running in the same time, not random.

Hi Strayshot,
JudderTerminator is very computing intensive. Your CPU may be running of power when JudderTerminator is enabled.
I usually disable JudderTerminator.

I'm using an Athlon 2400+, and it doesn't 'appear' that I am running out of steam, but I have not completely dismissed the idea, either.
It has been suggested to me that I may have something akin to the 'VIA chipset' bug that has plagued some of the Holo3D owners. This was also thought to be a bus traffic issue (which is why I got interested in this thread) So I am going to try some of the solutions suggested for that issue and see if it does any good. Otherwise, I will indeed be running with JT disabled.
Like I said, other than that it has been great!

Hi there
That sounds like a good idea. Let us know what you try and what works/doesn't work. It will be useful for future reference.
Thanks
Alex

Well, I tried everything on the Immersive forum with the exception of the new motherboard. No difference on any of the changes. I tried to get some screen captures of the problem, but I haven't been able to catch it with a capture yet.
Oh well... maybe we'll try that new notherboard route...

I installed a new n-force2 motherboard and the problem is gone. It now appears that this problem was indeed related to the same thing that the H3D owners were seeing. My film sources are now extremely smooth thanks to JudderTerminator.
