Hi,

Received my PDI Deluxe card a few days ago, and started out be using with DScaler 4.1.9 (as I had used with existing SAA7134 FlyVideo 3000 card).

I noticed that often when I switched inputs, the image would go into a ~5 second flashing screen sequence before seeming to lock onto the imput properly? DScaler application also seemed to lockup occasionally when adjusting various video settings with the PDI card (although I have never had this problem with the SAA7134 card and 4.1.9).

This was really annoying, so I ended up trying the recommended 4.1.7p3 version, and this appears to work a lot better.

I realise that 4.1.9 is a beta release, but can somone assure me that this issues are being looked into, or are us PDI Deluxe users going to be forever stuck with the customised 4.1.7p version and never get to use any of the new features included in later general version DScaler releases?

Example being that we do not seem to have a 4.1.8 version to use, which is the latest official general DScaler version which has been out for quite some time.

The PDI Deluxe card is an expensive capture card, so I would hate to think we were not going to be properly supported by being able to make use of future DScaler developments!

Thanks
Greg

Hi Greg,

Dscaler 4.1.9 is not a stable version and there are several serious problems reported. DScaler team mentioned in DScaler support forum that "**** there seem to be several serious problems with this release ****".
http://www.dscaler.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=2985&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

So in the mean time, please continue to use DScaler 4.1.7p3. We are reading the 4.1.9 codes and shall work with the DScaler team to fix the problems.

Atman

Indeed, a new version seems in place. I have one dscaler (4.1.7p4) for the pdi deluxe, and one (4.1.9) for tv viewing. If I could use the same version for both cards, I'll be happy as ****. Anyway, keep up the good work as usual. This is a great card! ;)

Christopher.

edit: Dscaler 4.1.8 is the latest stable version. Please use a source code comparison program and compare your modified 4.1.7 code to the official 4.1.7. That way you can see your PDI Deluxe modifications, take them out and integrate them in the 4.1.8 code. Should take 2 days at most. Please, can you do it for us? :o

Hi christopher,

It is much more complicated. I believe a new release of Dscaler will be available soon.

Cheers,

Do you mean a new release of your modified DScaler? if so, that's great news for me.

But if you mean a new release of the official DScaler, well, the author dropped support of the 4.x series to work on 5.x. And 5.x will "just" be a DirectShow video filter w/ the advanced deinterlacing/filtering of Dscaler, no more video card support. It's going to handle everything using default WDM drivers and the video player of your choice; instead of custom written drivers and an interface app like now.

The reason that he pulled this move was that it became increasingly difficult to manage the development of drivers for the hundreds of available cards. He didn't even have half of them to test the drivers he had written.

Best Regards,

Christopher Hilding

Hi,

Right now we are busy to prepare for the CEDIA show. We shall spend 1 week to merge & test the PDI Deluxe codes with 4.1.8 after the show.
