Hi there
Will there be any multi-point gamma control in the video options of the VPS3800?

Sure. The user interface of 20-point gamma control is similar to an audio equalizer.

What about grayscale calibration, another company has 11 point parametric grayscale? Is a similar feature going to be available on Crystalio II?

Multi-point gamma control is the same as grayscale calibration. Just another name.

Just to clarify, as I recently used that 11-point thing and found it extremely useful.
You mean Crystalio II will have the option to set specific R, G and B outputs for 20 points along the 0-100 IRE scale?

Will it be able to set Y values as well, on those 20 points?

Now that the manual is out I'd like to properly understand how to set-up things.
I'm using a Pioneer 747 DVD player, with component out. The player allows me to choose between 0 IRE and 7.5 IRE setup.
Given that the gamma controls on the Crystalio II allow only for 7.5-100 IRE control points, in increments of five... am I correct in assuming that I should setup my DVD player at the 7.5 IRE point?
Why is 0 IRE input not present in Crystalio II?

In digital domain, 7.5IRE as black is just a notion saying that we select to use 7.5IRE to 100IRE to represent the total black (16) to total white (235) range. We can choose to use 0IRE to 100IRE to represent the same thing. That would just be another scale.
For your DVD 7.5IRE or 0IRE as black selection, you should choose 7.5IRE because the firmware V1.00 only support this. In later firmware, we will also support SD input IRE level at 0.
