New 500GB HDD not recognised
Hi, I've recently replaced an aging 100GB HDD with a Western Digital 500GB Hard Drive 7200rpm 16MB Cache - OEM Caviar Blue. Formatted Primary NTFS partition, jumper set to master and updated to the latest firmware. However the drive is not recognised by my MB100.
Any ideas? |

Please make sure to partition the harddrive as the first "primary" partition. The Mediabox does not work with extended/logical partition.
When connecting the Mediabox via USB to a PC, can the PC see the Mediabox internal harddrive? Pixel Magic Support. |

Hi,
It's configured as the primary partition. When connected to the PC, the HDD can be seen and I can copy files to/from the HDD. Thanks |

The HD Mediabox works with Seagate and Hitachi 500G harddrive in our test. A Seagate 750G also works. The Western Digital should work the same.
Other thing you may try, set the harddrive jumper to "cable select", or create a smaller partition (250G for example) and check if the Mediabox can detect it. If problem persist, you can send a email to info@pixelmagicsystems.com to arrange to send back the Mediabox with the harddrive to us to check. Pixel Magic Support. |

Ok an update, I've reduced the volume size to 100GB and the HDD is seen, increase it over 150GB and it's not. I've emailed the address above so hopefully they can shed some light on this.
Thanks for your help ![]() |
