Post How I finally solved my problem

Hi,

Have winxp pro sp2 installed first time I installed wsfu. Followed the guide and I had no problems.

Then I reinstalled winxp pro and I couldn't browse the file on my machine anymore from the mb100. I don't know how many times I reinstalled wsfu and followed the guide...

After tearing my few hairbuds for a couple of weeks I finally found what was wrong. Under administrative tools/local security policy there is two lines called: "deny logon locally" and "access this computer from the network". I removed Guests from "deny..." and added Guest "access this.." and suddenly I could browse again!

Additinally I previously installed autopatcher every new install of my system. I think this adds extra network security because with this installed I couldn't get NFS to work. Clean fresh install with sp2 and then let windowsupdate handle the patches everything is fine.

Cheeers

I too seem to be suffering from the 'Please wait' problem. I have installed SFU on XP. I can see the share from the MB200. I can browse for files and see them. BUT as soon as I select one, any one, the MB200 locks up. All I can then do is remove power.
I have the current FW 1.3.6.4
While under 1.3.4 all was fine. I upgraded to 1.3.5, all NFS was lost. Server was never found despite having done nothing to XP.
Went back to 1.3.4, could at least see NFS share and list its content. But since then I havent been able to play a thing, all I get is 'Please wait'.
Upgraded to 1.3.6.4 and now it is the same the reinstalled 1.3.4
Anyone any ideas/suggestions as this unit is looking more like a doorstop every day?

D'oh! Just got it sorted!!! I seem to remember reading about a mixed GigE and 100Mb network and Jumbo Frames. I had JF enabled on the XP box. Disabled that and all is now fine. The MB200 is looking a little less like a doorstop now!!

Smile

Thank You

NFS is MUCH faster and allows high bit rate videos to play than Samba

Control panel --> Administrative tools --> Computer Management --> Device Management --> Network adapters. Choose the one you're using to access the network then right mouse click on it, click on Properties and then go in the Advanced tab. You will see there under 'Property' a list of properties for your network adapter. Check on the right top box the value of the property 'Jumbo Frames'. It should be disabled i guess for computers that have both 1000 and 100MB/s LAN adapters (based on a previous post that i saw here above). Mine is by default on 'Disable' but still can't see the files under my NFS shares...

In addition, my machine (PC) is rock stable (Prime 95 for 24 hours etc) and NEVER crashes. However, when a file starts playing over the NFS network on my MB100 my PC reboots! No warnings or blue screens, it's just like someone hit the reset switch on my computer... WTF?

Could it be my dual core CPU, RAID0 setup or something?

Anyone else having this problem?

Same problem here. Even after installing new Win XP sp2.

HELP PLEASE

M$ NFS is a pure and total s***, never worked well to me, so I'm using a comercial solution like: ProNFS ($40 bucks, little expensive, but does works perfectly).

Today I watched LOR (3h long) from NFS without a single problem, I'm using firmware 1.3.5.

thr07: With Jumbo Frames enabled I could still view the contents of the shared folder, I just couldn't play them. The MB just locked up. Disabling JF allowed them to play. JF is for GigE only so the PC was sending larger packets than the MB at 100Mb could handle.
M$ NFS seems to work fine for me. I followed the instructions to the letter as given by PMS. It is even working without enabling the Guest account!

You will not see it if your PC has only 1 ethernet adapter that is 100MB/s. If it has 2 and one of them is with Gigabit connections speed (1000MB/s) then you will definitely find there the Jumbo Frames property. So basically if you only have 1 ethernet adapter you don't even have to bother about that. Btw i got my NFS share finally to work by shutting down the PC completely and then re-booting abit later...It seems that this was a Windows XP Pro issue in my case...
