Thumbs up

I would like to add my vote for Jaco's suggestion in post #20 for Auto Output resolution = Input resolution, via HDMI, straight passthrough with no scaling or cropping, OSD positioned to fit the passed-through area.
I have a Snazio at present, connected by DVI to a Lumagen HDP scaler, and this feature alone would sell it to me.

Also,

playback of HD .ts files seamlessly so they do not have to be joined.

playback of high bitrate (>20Mb/s) HD - the Snazio will not do this even over the wired connection.

playback of audio tracklists without pauses between tracks - If Winamp can do it...

Ability to see the internal HDD and USB connected HDD from a networked PC.

Ability to play a DVD image mounted on a virtual drive in a networked PC.

Looks like a potentially fantastic product, hopefully we will get some real user reviews very soon

Matt.

Only if the option exist to change them to complete black. Not my fault some folks bought tv's that can burn in.

Wrong link on MB product page

BTW. the link pointing to the "Product manual" is wrong and results in a "Not found" message. So put on your wish list to fix this link.

slideshow wishlist

I argue that the market of digital cmaera owners (60 - 100 mil sales a year) has to be addressed adequtely by the Mediabox features / ui.

1. Definitely provide for the background music. It makes a difference between a boring vacation slideshow and enjoyable vacation slideshow. Every slideshow program has this already. (Allow for a list of audio files to be in the playlist file with jpeg files plus maybe some markings to sync particular audio with particular jpeg. The whole thing cries to be XML)

2. Provide a thumbnail view for the jpegs in a directory or a text file / playlist and allow to start the show from any item.

3. Allow users to specify any slide duration they want rather just 5 or 10 sec.

Thanks, Z.

It has been requested in this thread by somebody else.
I wanted to ask again for discrete remote codes. At least for power on/off. It would make integration into a system with a universal remote so much easier.

My two biggest issues are seemless playback of multiple .ts files and FLAC audio files.

I have 950+ CD's ripped to FLAC and while I may change out my Squeezeboxes for these units, unless FLAC is incorporated I will only really need in one location vs several locations.

My wish List

My Wish list!! Short and simple!!
-That it can HANDLE BTB and WTW!!!
-Auto detection of the Files RESOLUTION. So that i play a .TS file that is Say 720p, It automaticly changes the Output signal to (720p) according to the file BEING played!!

I own the Tvix 5000u today and it DOESNT handle BTB or WTW ! And you have to PRESELECT an Resolution, So say that i choose 1080i it will play everything i play with this resolution.

If yours handle BTB and WTW and have an AUTO setting for Resolution I WILL BUY ONE AS SOON AS THEY HIT THE STORES!!! I PROMISE

(1) audiophile and videophile quality with rock solid stability.

(2) no time consuming audio/video adjustment, just plug and play.

(3) this should not be a PC that is able to do everything. just be a single purpose appliance, be a very good & friendly appliance.

well, able to handle video/audio stream would be nice.

Get this right, and you can multiply your sales forecasts by a factor of 10.

Vote for that... Including cover art for music.

A web interface for control of the Mediabox.
Apart from being useful for changing internal settings (say the output resolution), it would also be useful as way for selecting/playing music without switching on the tv.

This would be especially good if used with something like the Nokia 770 http://europe.nokia.com/nokia/0,,74866,00.html. If features like cover art for music was then supported this would look great on a small web tablet like the 770, giving an experience like the Sonos system http://www.sonos.com/

Squeezebox integration

One of the main drawbacks of the Mediabox is the lack of a standalone display - I do not want to turn my TV on to play a CD.

But rather than PM build a display, an easier solution would be to jump into bed with squeezebox. If they supported SlimServer running natively on the Mediabox, then users could use the Squeezebox display for CDs, and/or the MediaBox TV display for CDs and video.

The idea would be akin to the NAS drive from Qnap - I have been considering buying such a drive so as to support my Squeezebox without having to turn my PC on. But if, rather than buying a NAS drive, I could purchase a MediaBox also able to run SlimServer then that would be a killer product.

my wishlist would include being able to do some de-interlacing and ideally reverse-telecine of 108060i sources.
Not sure if it is possible but would be nice to be able to dissable HDCP in order to display on non-hdcp DVI screens (like widescreen 20" and 23/24" screens)
...Oh and H.264 for future proofing!
